CSR/Dispatcher

3.3.2022. Job Location: Anywhere, USA
The environment is toxic, morale is terrible, and the turnover is high. The franchise where I worked can’t seem to retain enough staff in the office to keep up with hundreds of phone calls and leads per day. Many phone calls are beyond difficult to and the CSR has to guess how long jobs take/labor cost with very minimal knowledge and training on them and often the customer provides incorrect or incomplete information.

Most people don’t even want to book in the first place because on-site assessments are not free like many other companies, the customer won’t really know what they are paying until they receive their final bill, and the prices are extremely high—nobody cares about the company uniforms, the clearly marked van, or how long the technicians have worked if it costs over $200 to just to replace a smoke detector. The CSR has to deal with last second cancellations, constant complaints, tech call-outs, and all kinds of unpleasant/stressful situations while earning not much more than minimum wage. Meanwhile, the manager slacks off and/or puts off or won’t do tasks that they don’t feel like doing.

Technicians are constantly coming and coming. It is extremely rare that a technician will last longer than a few months. Most technicians get fed up quickly and resign without notice leaving the office staff to figure out what to do with their remaining jobs on the schedule. Some technicians are let go because they lied about their skill level and severely screwed something up.

The staff often argue with each other, temper tantrums are daily, and some employees receive preferential treatment while others are treated/worked like slaves and quickly burn out.
